Honored Artist of the Uzbek SSR.

He is one of the famous and prominent representatives of the Samarkand realistic school of painting in Uzbekistan in the second half of the 20th century.  

Born in Bukhara on December 21, 1912, his family moved to Samarkand in 1930.

From 1930-1932 he studied at the Art and Industrial College (carpet department).

From 1932-1936, he continued his studies at the Samarkand Art College with P. P. Benkov, L. L. Bure, Z. M. Kovalevskaya, and later at the advanced training studio for young artists at the Union of Artists of Uzbekistan in Tashkent with O. K. Tatevosyan, V. N. Yeremyan (1939-1940).

Rashid Timurov is a talented and famous landscape painter of Uzbekistan. His paintings reflect the poetic corners of Samarkand with architectural monuments, plein-air sketches, lyrical landscapes that reflect the original compositional and coloristic searches of the master. Chingiz Akhmarov described the artist's work this way: "Rashid Timurov can truly be called the singer of Samarkand."

The artist's works are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow, Russia), the State Museum of Oriental Art (Moscow, Russia), the State Museum of Art of Uzbekistan (Tashkent), the Samarkand Museum of the History of Culture and Art and in many museums of Uzbekistan, as well as in private collections.
