Painter. National Artist of Uzbekistan.
Born in the village of Barneevka, near the city of Shadrinsk (Southern Urals) in a peasant
family. He studied in Omsk at the drawing and painting courses (1917-1919). In 1920, he joined the section of artists organized under the RABIS Union. In 1921-22. took part in exhibitions of the group «Chervona Troika». Travels across Siberia and Altai, participates as an artist in agitation expeditions along the Irtysh and the Ob, makes an exhibition of his works in Novosibirsk.
V. Ufimtsev is one of the artists who made a significant contribution to the formation of the national school of painting in Uzbekistan.
1920-30s - one of the most famous and most fruitful periods in the artist’s work. This is the period when he searched in the field of decorative conventionality of painting with the defining sound of the silhouette, the color spot.
In the works of the historical and everyday genre, written in the 1940-1960s, the artist’s personal perception of the world, his active civic position, is clearly manifested.
