Painter. National Artist of Uzbekistan, Academician of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan. Born in 1918 in Turkestan. He studied at the Samarkand Art College with P. Benkov, L. Bure, Z. Kovalevskaya (1931-1936), at the Moscow State Art Institute. V. Surikov with A. Osmerkin, V. Efanov, I. Chekmazov, D. Mochalsky (1938-1941). An outstanding portrait painter, one of the first representatives and founders of the national school of painting, who created a gallery of images of his contemporaries, prominent figures of culture and science. He was engaged in pedagogical activity, brought up many generations of Uzbek painters.
The artist’s works are in the museum collections of Uzbekistan, Russia, Italy, as well as in private collections of the republic. He died in 2001 in Tashkent.
